Agosto è il momento giusto per divertirsi a studiare la rappresentazione delle spiagge dall’invenzione della fotografia.
Possiamo dire che le spiagge sono state inventate contemporaneamente alla fotografia?
Le spiagge erano raramente frequentate prima della metà del XIX secolo e i bagni di mare sono diventati una pratica popolare e democratica solo tra le due guerre: negli anni Venti e Trenta, l’accesso alle spiagge è stato promosso da governi con idee diametralmente opposte, ma impegnati in una competizione internazionale per la salute fisica delle giovani generazioni.

On the Beach

August is a convenient time to have fun studying the representation of beaches since the invention of photography.
Can we say that beaches were invented at the same time as photography.
In fact, beaches were rarely visited before the mid- 19th century, and sea bathing only became a popular and democratic practice in the inter-war years: in the 1920s and 1930s, access to beaches was promoted by governments with diametrically opposed ideas, but who were engaged in an international competition in the physical health of young generations.
