Please feel free to contact Adriana, who is coordinating this first edition of what we hope will become a regular event focused on vintage photography in Colombia – via WhatsApp message or call- on her Colombian cell phone.

Visitors are invited to bring old photographs that they would like the various experts, who will be present, to identify or comment on.

Unidentified location, footsteps, ca 21 July 1969. Vintage chromogenic print on water-marked Kodak paper, 205×205 mm. Famous Life Magazine cover image, with official title: “Tranquility Base and flag from LM window.” Most discussed image, “the flag seems rippled because it had been folded during storage, and the ripples could be mistaken for movement in a still photo”.

Unidentified photographer. Local inhabitants, Boleos, Baja California Sur, circa 1893

We also hope to present a small exhibition of Colombian daguerreotypes from a collector in Bogotá, which will provide an opportunity to ask questions about this early photographic technique.

It is worth noting that Colombia was among the first countries where photography—in the form of daguerreotypes—was practiced during the 1840s, and that Baron Gros reinvented a personal technique there that earned him praise from European practitioners.

Jean-Baptiste-Louis Gros, Rue de l’Observatoire, Bogota, 1842. Daguerréotype. Collection Roger Thérond

For a small fee, you can also have your portrait taken in the traditional style by Foto Agüita, a group of street photographers from Carrera Séptima who will be participating in Saturday’s fair.
