A Celebration of the Invention of Photography

1. Parisian Beginnings

Let’s celebrate two centuries since the birth of photography—from Niépce’s pioneering achievements between 1824 and 1827 to the public unveiling of the daguerreotype in 1839. Today, we are proud to unveil a new platform

It was in the midst of Paris, during a modest gathering of old photograph fanciers, that this notion first took root—proof that good ideas do not always require grand halls

2. An Open Invitation

Our platform extends an open hand to collectors, galleries, and those with a fondness for images of yesteryear. All are welcome, provided they mind their manners.

3. Calendar and Gazette

A calendar of events and a modest blog are at your disposal, lest you lose track of the comings and goings in the world of early photographs and paper curiosities.

4. Beyond Photographs

Rumor has it we may soon admit not only photographs, but also books, engravings, drawings, and sundry objects that have survived the passage of time.

5. The Curious Case of ‘Virtual’

It may strike some as peculiar that we call this venture ‘virtual,’ when our true intent is to see art objects preserved in the tangible world. Such are the paradoxes of modern invention.

6. Suggestions Most Welcome

The organizers, being of sound mind but open to improvement, invite your suggestions—be they wise, witty, or otherwise.

7. Address for Correspondence

Should you wish to share your thoughts, kindly direct your letters to one of the addresses below.
